Symposium

Marie Curie annually organises a symposium. The symposium is free of charge and you can register via this website. We hope to see you there!

The theme of this year's symposium is Biophysics and will be held on February 4th 2026. As the name suggests, biophysics exists at the intersection of biology and physics. It aims to answer diverse questions, such as: 'How do viruses work on a mechanical and dynamical level?', 'How can we apply biomechanics to identify optimal technique for athletes?', and even: 'Are we alone in the universe?'. To answer these questions, we will also learn about experimental techniques, like (High Speed) Atomic Force Microscopy to study viruses and their dynamics, or the use of photonic biosensors to search for extraterrestrial biosignatures. For more information, see the Speakers page.

The previous symposium Climate Physics was held on February 26th 2025, with topics ranging from: The influence of oceans on the climate, repurposing coal plants to be used with greener fuel, and a philosophical view on the uncertainty of climate change.
